Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept credit cards?

No, we accept cash or direct deposit. Invoices can be given for some company orders and receipts are always issued.

Can you deliver our order?

Yes, and a fee may be charged. Some fragile cakes require two people to make the delivery and the distance is also considered.

I am allergic to nuts, can you make nut-free desserts?

Yes, some of our desserts do not contain nuts. Please note that although nuts may not be an ingredient in a specific cake, they are used in other recipes in the same kitchen. We do not use separate machines/utensils/tins for nut-free desserts but of course everything is washed thoroughly. Please be sure to tell us if you have a nut allergy so we can be extra cautious.

Can you make any gluten-free cakes?

Yes! We have a few gluten-free options.

How much notice do you need to place an order?

This just depends on what other orders we have for that date. If we can accommodate your request, we will.

How do I know how much cake I need?

Firstly, know how many people you are catering for. The following chart is a guide for wedding cake portions. The average piece is about 1 by 2 inches wide. Please consider that if the cake is to be served as dessert, you may want larger pieces.

Round Cake Serves Square Cake Serves
4" 5 4" 6
5" 7 5" 8
6" 10 6" 15
7" 15 7" 20
8" 20 8" 25
9" 25 9" 30
10" 30 10" 40
11" 40 11" 55
12" 50 12" 70

Can I have a different flavour for each tier of the cake?

Yes, but please consider that the largest (bottom) tier should be the densest. Also, all the flavours should be able to be matched with the same icing if you want the entire cake to look the same.

I like the look of one of your cakes but it is the wrong size for my function, can you alter the size or shape?

Yes, the cakes pictured are just a guide. We can custom build your cake so you have the right amount for your guests. We can also change the flavour, decoration and anything else you require.

I want the fondant colour to be a specific shade to match my wedding colours, can you do this?

We prefer to use pastel colours and keep our cakes as natural as possible. Instead of using food colouring, we try to use chocolate, fresh berries and fruit, flowers and jam to add colour to our desserts. Intense, bright coloured fondant is usually achieved by spray painting the cake. We do not do this.

How long do your cakes last?

The shelf life varies for each cake. No preservatives are added to any cake so they are all best eaten as soon as possible. All cakes are baked fresh, as close to the event as possible. Please ask us for further details on any specific cake.

How long can cakes be left out of the fridge?

Cakes should all be kept somewhere cool, especially cakes with cream and chocolate. Perth's summer heat can quickly melt a delicate chocolate ganache. Buttercream can be left out of the fridge for several hours in a cool place. Cakes finished with fondant shouldn't be put in the fridge at all because the fondant softens and goes sticky. Most cakes are best eaten at room temperature, so take out of the fridge half an hour before serving.
